Wigs Grow Hair Regimen

Wigs Grow Hair Regimen

I have used wigs to grow my hair for over 10 years. You see, I started wearing wigs because, a few weeks into my hair journey, I learned and understood that it is the perfect protective style. This is because all my hair is covered, and I have the ability to nurse my hair underneath without compromising my hairstyle. This is to show you how I achieved this and why it will help you as well.

Three Key Points to Note When Doing This Regimen:

1. The Perfect Wig

I have used so many variations of wigs, from synthetic to Swiss lace wigs to my now-favorite HD lace wigs. There are several different wig constructions, but not all are best for your hair.

A. Wig Combs: These are typically sewn to the temples and the nape of standard ready-to-wear wigs. They cause tension on the same area, on the same strands of hair every time you take them on and off. The heavier the hair is, the more pressure is put on these areas, leading to thinning and breakage.

B. Metal Wires: Aside from giving some the occasional headache, these metal wires sometimes come out and cause damage to the hairline. Just like the underwire in your bra, these wires can protrude after prolonged wear and cause friction against your hair.

C. HD Lace Wigs: My all-time favorite wigs are HD lace wigs. The lace is thin and, therefore, does not cause friction against the hairline like synthetic wigs. Also, we use soft, breathable lace that allows for better scalp health while providing a seamless, natural look. These wigs are lightweight, comfortable, and allow for proper hair growth while maintaining a flawless appearance.

2. The Perfect Deep Conditioner

Moisture retention is key when growing and maintaining healthy hair underneath your wigs. A good deep conditioner strengthens your hair, prevents breakage, and provides intense hydration. I look for products that contain:

  • Hydrolyzed Proteins: Strengthen the hair shaft and repair damage.

  • Aloe Vera & Honey: Boost moisture and promote scalp health.

  • Essential Oils & Butters: Such as shea butter, coconut oil, and argan oil, which lock in moisture and provide nourishment.

A weekly deep conditioning routine under a hooded dryer or with a thermal cap ensures that my hair remains strong, elastic, and less prone to breakage.

3. The Perfect Hair Growth Oil

I have always made my own hair growth oils. It tended to be some variation of castor oil and a carrier oil. Then, after kids, when the stress, depression, and postpartum hair loss set in, that didn’t work. I gave up completely on my hair. Handfuls of hair would come out every wash day, and I was so distraught that I didn’t want to do anything about it. After all, it was too late. My hair became patchy and thin, and I resolved to cut it off. Five years of growth—waist-length hair—down the drain. At this point, my hairline was completely gone.

Enough was enough. I went through my old hair diaries (yes, I was that dedicated and obsessed with hair growth), researched some more, and put together the best, most potent ingredients that treat hair loss.

My Growth Retention Hair Oil works in two ways:

  1. Promotes Hair Growth: This oil is formulated with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, capsaicin (stimulates blood flow to the scalp), Zingiber officinale (ginger root, which has anti-inflammatory properties), zinc, iron, and antioxidants. These ingredients work together to nourish the scalp and encourage strong, healthy growth.

  2. Prevents Breakage: Most people experience growth, but keeping the new growth healthy is where they struggle. My oil contains a perfect blend of strengthening and moisturizing agents to ensure new hair doesn’t break off prematurely.

This formula has helped me and countless others restore edges, fill in bald spots, and retain length. My hairline is back, y’all! And I’m here to help you achieve the same results.

Final Thoughts

Wigs can be an excellent tool in your hair growth journey when used correctly. Choosing the right wig, deep conditioning regularly, and using a quality hair growth oil are the ultimate keys to success. Whether you're recovering from postpartum hair loss, struggling with thinning edges, or just looking for a way to retain length without daily manipulation, this regimen can work for you too.
